And the birthday party planning begins...only 4 months early

The birthday-planning bug has hit me, and it has hit me somethin' fierce. I'm a ragin' "two-year-old-princess-themed-party" party planner these days--consider yourselves warned.

I went to Michael's yesterday and spent two-hours, got really kiddishly excited, and bought all of the paper to make my invitations. Yep, that's right--paper invitations this year, baby. I am crafty- hear me roar. These are my invitation-inspiration this year:
I already have half-a-dozen little crowns cut-out (NOT EASY), and am experimenting with if I want them to have three or four points- sigh. Such a hard life. 3 or 4 points, paisley, or polka-dotted background paper-I'm stoked. I can't wait to go shopping for little princess wands and the oh-so perfect ribbons to swaddle them in. Swoon. (By the way--you can find invitations such as the one above at etsy.com.)

Now, for my next obsession project...the cake. Ok, so I wouldn't exactly call myself the baker type. Don't get me wrong, I have been known to whip out a delicious cookie from the pre-cut roll, or mix a batch of boxed brownies with skill and ease, but this one is like a new mountain waiting to be conquered...the FONDANT cake. (Cue ooh's and ahh's.) That's right ladies and gentlemen--this momma is going to attempt to make a cake that goes a little somethin' like this:

Minus the ribbon on the top--I couldn't do that if my life depended on it. So, basically me trying to produce a cake that looks like that, is similar to putting a blind person who has never touched a steering wheel in the driver's seat of a car and telling them to drive you through New York City. So, send any extra prayers and whatever else you count on for luck my way, puhlease. I'm thinkin' I am going to take a cake-baking class at Michael's for practice (and fun-duh.)

Stay-tuned for updates on the party-planning as it progresses. And have a great weekend!!!
